The General Manager of Dulevo, Maurizio Giansiracusa, appeared on Business 24’s Pole Position programme recently and discussed the company’s history, its goals and commitment to sustainability. Here at Lincoln Cleaning Technology, we work closely with Dulevo and consider their street sweeping machines to be at the cutting edge of industrial cleaning innovation. Here are some highlights from what Maurizio Giansiracusa had to say- translated from the original Italian of course.
How did Dulevo begin?
M.G. “In 1976, in a garage in Parma, two engineers invented a new way to clean the streets. They combined vacuum technology, the same as we use at home in a hoover today, with a mechanical system that physically removed the waste from the street.”
What is the core business of Dulevo?
M.G. “We develop, manufacture and develop street sweepers and also smaller indoor sweeping machines. We are present virtually everywhere in the world commercially speaking, but our operations are all in Fontanellato near Parma. The multinational Fayat Group invested in us in 2021 which has given us a great deal of confidence and global potential.
There are many competitors in this industry, what makes you unique?
M.G. “The brand Dulevo and the technology go together, they go hand in hand. For example, if someone wants to buy an off-road vehicle they will say I want to buy a Jeep- a brand name synonymous with the technology- even if they go on to buy another brand. In our niche market, the technology which we call mechanical suction identifies as the Dulevo brand, so when a customer wants that kind of vehicle, they say I want a Dulevo. It’s flattering that other companies try to copy what we do.”
What about Dulevo’s motto?
M.G. “Our motto Timeless Quality Through Passion is a concept that runs through all our work. We have 230 employees and most have been at Dulevo for many years, so they are absolutely the experts of the technology in our industry.”
What’s new for Dulevo?
General Manager Maurizio then talked about the company’s plans to expand into American and Indian markets and also about the latest technology used in the street sweepers. Dulevo machines are perfectly designed to cope with the often dusty conditions throughout India and Dulevo India is constantly innovating to stay ahead of the curve.
Technical innovation
One of the cornerstones of Dulevo’s philosophy is technical innovation. All the machines are equipped with a remote monitoring system which transmits vital data in real time. Maurizio explained that users are able to access information on the operating status of the machine and this will warn customers if a problem is about to occur. Carrying out preventative maintenance operations will ensure optimal service from the sweeper.
Dulevo’s Smart City Circuit is future proofed too since it is prepared for both passive and active interface, paving the way for seamless integration with future developments from Dulevo.
